Of Apologies and Authorship

I haven't posted in a while, and I actually just deleted a bunch of randoms. A combination of two things. 1) I'm not doing as much traveling, so my opportunities to do these kinds of bizarre things are far fewer. 2) I'm actually getting far more personal misdialings than before; as in so personal that I hesitate to post them, because I'm embarrassed by them.

For instance, here, Jill has clearly decided that I am someone else. I have received nearly an entire book from her:

Along with an invitation to a teleconference (unfortunately the agenda was not sent out, so I couldn't decide whether to join):

There have also been some other, fairly in depth personal emails from this Jill that I can't bring myself to post. And in the spirit of holding back, I received this apology from someone I don't know, although I didn't receive any spam. It does look like he knows a lot of people whose names begin with "M" (mine does not):

Thanksgiving Edition

A special Thanksgiving edition of Misdialing, ranging from the personal (implant?), the sensitive (attempted pickup) and the strange (cemetery plot?).  I'm not sure what in the universe is driving all of these misdials (other than my potentially common @gmail address), but it seems to be picking up.

I actually received a couple of similar emails from this person, I didn't have the heart to respond, or post more.

This is one of the most fascinating.  I actually already emailed one of the teachers to let them know they were emailing the wrong person, but apparently it didn't take (akin to the college Anthropology Club that /really/ wanted me to be part of their group).  I can only imagine what's going on in that Grade 7 Geo class...

Darn it, I missed the RSVP deadline

This one might actually be spam. It came in an otherwise blank email as a PDF, and the filesize seems really big. However, it's a specific enough invitation that I decided to take it at its word (although I only viewed it through Google and didn't download it, so maybe that's a slight exaggeration).

The Boiler Room

This one kind of just made me feel sad.

What's a "cheque"?

Must be something in the air this week. I can only assume that I received this one because of a fat-finger error, given the correct recipient's email name.

Wish I actually was invited...

Sounds kind of exciting. Not sure why the restaurant (which must be next door or so) is being so difficult though.

I can haz lamps?

One of the fun things about misdialing is not knowing if it's spam or not. In this case it's unlikely to be spam, since there's no request for money or a link. But you never know.
